Pastors

Sherrie has been serving as Pastor at Cross of Life and UNITY since August 2006. It was when she was in 7th grade that she began to feel a call to ordained ministry. She is the 7th person (and the 4th woman) ordained from her home congregation of Grace Lutheran in Tomahawk, Wis.

Sherrie majored in Religion at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, and received her Master of Divinity degree from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. Through seminary, she served at Capitol Drive Lutheran Church in Milwaukee and at Bethany Lutheran in Escanaba, Mich.

Her husband Matthew is a Master Electrician and owns his own electrical business. Matt and Sherrie have three sons, George, James and Peter, and a daughter Emily.

After 11 years of exceptional service, Pastor Muriel's last day at UNITY Lutheran Church was August 25, 2024. Thank you for all of your wonderful contributions throughout the years, Mo!

Please contact Pastor Sherrie, Pastor Eric or Pastor Jim if you need assistance.

Eric joined UNITY as an Interim Pastor in May 2024, he brings with him more than three decades of pastoral experience with the Greater Milwaukee Synod.

Most notably he served for 20 years (2001-2021) with Christ Lutheran Church in Salem/Paddock Lake, Wis., where he retired as their Senior Pastor. He then served as the Bridge Pastor/Interim Associate Pastor for 9 months at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Oconomowoc (2021-2022), and most recently at Trinity Lutheran Church in Kenosha (July 1, 2022-April 1, 2024).

Prior to beginning his 20-year stay at Christ Lutheran, he served as an Associate Pastor at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Portage, Wis. (1995-2001). His very first ministry assignment was as an Associate Pastor at Immanuel and Wilmington Lutheran Churches in Caledonia, Minn. (1992-1995).

Eric and his wife Vickie live in Greendale and have three adult children who live in the area: Suzanne, Erica and Charlie. Eric is a fan of Wisconsin sports, especially the UW-Madison men’s basketball team. He also likes attending concerts and enjoys swimming at a high school near his home.

After 27 years, John has retired! His last day at UNITY was April 30, 2024

Administration

Nancy has been with Christ the King and UNITY since 2004 as the Office Administrator and joined CTK as a member in 2013.  She is responsible for providing office support to UNITY staff members, as well as performing the day-to-day functions of the CTK campus office.

Nancy grew up in Toledo, Ohio, and married Ken in 1977. They have three adult children – Elizabeth (married to Mike), Laura (Married to Paxton) and Kenny – and 8 grandchildren.

After her own children were in school full-time, Nancy began working as an Office Administrator for her church in Texas. From that point on she was hooked, and has served in that role for four congregations due to job transfers with her husband.

In her free time Nancy enjoys attending Bible Study, golfing, coaching Special Olympics and spending time with family – especially her grandchildren.

Bill officially joined the staff in June of 2024 as the new Webmaster to work with Ann on maintaining the church’s Website. Bill graduated Summa Cum Laude from Herzing University in April of 2015 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Software Development, also having worked with companies including Northwestern Mutual and Easy Metrics, Inc.

Bill began to attend UNITY in the Fall of 2021, becoming a member with his family the following year. You may have seen Bill on the stage song leading either with an accompanist or the Praise Band and most recently rocking with the many talented singers of our church including his son in Muriel’s Jesus Karaoke production. What drew Bill to UNITY, in addition to the close proximity to his home, was the beautiful Cross of Life campus and the feeling of family you get when you walk in the doors of both campuses. It also came with the opportunity to reunite with Kevin and Stacey Nordmeyer in the Praise Band, having performed music together many years ago at Redeemer EFC in Milwaukee

Bill and his wife, Kelly, an Oncology nurse at Froedtert Hospital, have resided in Brookfield since 2004. They have a 12-year-old son, Connor, who plays percussion in his junior high school band, and their 4-year-old cockapoo named Lucky. In his spare time, Bill enjoys singing, Golf, video gaming, volunteering, and spending time with family.

Lynn started full-time on UNITY's staff in April 2023. She is splitting her time as UNITY's admin and an expanded role Dir. of Music Ministry. She will continue as an accompanist.

Matt joined us on December 16, 2014 when he was initially hired as our Dir. of Youth Ministry. Matt will be splitting his time as bookkeeper and Dir. of Adult Programs in the new program year.

Program Directors

Lynn was born and raised in the Brookfield area. Her faith journey started in the Methodist Church. Searching for a new church home, and at the request of her daughter to go to the ‘pretty blue church' with her friends, she found the warm and welcoming congregation at Cross of Life, and joined in 1990. Lynn immersed herself in the life of the church, serving on committees and on church council. But having been a musician since she was young, she found a new instrument in handbells, and joined Gloria Dei Handbells, as well as sang in Senior Choir. Eventually her love of music led to becoming the accompanist for both the Youth and Senior Choirs.

While completing her bachelors degree in business, she also learned to play the organ and officially joined our staff as Organist in 1998. In 2021 she also joined the Milwaukee Handbell Ensemble, now housed at UNITY’s Christ the King campus. In April 2023 Lynn became a full-time UNITY staff member as an Administrator and Director of Music Ministry.

Lynn and her husband, Jeff, were married at COL in 1992. They enjoy spending time together with friends, reading and relaxing with their family lake home in northern WI.

A graduate of Brookfield Central High School, Michelle earned her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education at UW-Madison, followed by her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Curriculum and Instruction from Cardinal Stritch University. She later worked for Brookfield Elementary, first as a Learning Support Teacher, then as a Program Support Teacher, until she was named Associate Principal in 2014.

Michelle first joined our Cross of Life campus with her parents in the 1980’s, later marrying her husband Mike there in 1989. She and Mike have three children – Mitch, Marcus and Madison – all of whom grew up immersed in our many different youth offerings.

Over the years, Michelle has served as a Sunday School teacher for Saturday evening services and as a Confirmation Small Group Leader. Mike serves as Worship Assistant and helped foster the collaboration between Cross of Life and Christ the King years ago.

In addition to spending as much time as they can with their kids, Michelle and Mike enjoy taking their road bikes on trails – whether here in Brookfield or all around Wisconsin.

Matt joined us on December 16, 2014 as Dir. of Youth Ministry. Prior to coming here, Matt worked for seven years at South Shore Trinity Lutheran Church in White Bear Lake, MN, responsible for overseeing the Youth Program, Sunday School, Confirmation and Vacation Bible School.

Matt was raised in Milwaukee and graduated from Milwaukee Lutheran High School. He moved to St. Paul, MN, to attend Concordia University, where he took courses in the Director of Christian Education Program and majored in Parish Administration. He graduated from Concordia in May 2007 and joined South Shore Trinity Lutheran Church that fall.

In 2010 Matt married Joy, who teaches at Lake Country Lutheran High School. Their first child Elliott was born in May 2016 and also have two daughters: Ava born in February 2019 and Evelyn in February of 2023.

In his free time, Matt loves spending time with his family and extended family (who live in the area), golfing, running, watching old movies, and traveling up north.

UNITY is excited to welcome one of its own into a staff role! Nicole Krause started on May 15, assisting in a variety of roles with which she is already very familiar. A member of UNITY since she was 4 years old, Nicole grew up immersed in our community and having experienced almost all of our programs.

At UNITY, Nicole will assist with an assortment of jobs where needed. As she explains, “I’ll be helping out with VBS, with Youth events when Confirmation resumes, and with our Sr. High program. I’ll also be shadowing Muriel for Servant Ministries and taking over some of those areas, such as coordinating plans and travel for El Salvador trips. There are also other areas, such as leading Grief Groups, where I’ll be able to step in and help.”

Nicole is excited to embrace this next phase in her life. “I’m most looking forward to experiencing UNITY in a different way that will make me fall in love with it even more and in a whole new way,” she says. “Honestly? It’s the people that make this place, and the longevity of the members speaks for itself. The staff works tirelessly and (seemingly!) effortlessly to keep people updated, and the outreach and support to the community is above and beyond any congregation I’ve ever seen. I’m very much looking forward to fostering that.”

Coming soon.
