When I think of UNITY, I think of people who are “rooted and growing” – living our faith here and well beyond our walls. I think of people working to grow and change for the better. Our family includes my husband Greg and daughters Chloe and Grace. We’ve been part of UNITY for close to 20 years. We were first drawn by the meaningful “food for the soul” – and our relationship quickly deepened with the sense of community and vibrant youth program. During services, Greg is a familiar face at the piano and playing handbells. Chloe and Grace show up in a variety of roles for music and worship, and they love to volunteer at Waukesha Food Pantry, Hephatha and other partners. I stretched outside my comfort zone on the East Coast Road Trip and Appalachia Service Project!

Following a long career in corporate communications working for large companies and a global agency, I’ve earned my Associate Certified Coach credential and launched Team OC3, an executive coaching and communications consultancy. I work with leaders who are seeking to grow their confidence and capability in leading teams and organizations. I graduated from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.

Bert Perrizo

I joined UNITY in November of 2022 because of the welcoming community atmosphere and the variety of ways to volunteer locally and beyond. I attend with my two children - Coby (9) and Mila (6) who attend Brookfield Elementary. In the Fall and Spring/Summer we stay very busy with soccer, ballet, and baseball. I grew up in the Twin Cities, MN area and have continued to be huge fan of the Vikings and Twins, which has made for some interesting and fun football seasons. I have lived in the Milwaukee Area for 25 years now working for a few software companies. In my spare time, I like to work on DIY projects and small technology projects around the house and help family and friends with their projects.

Todd Blatnik

My wife, Heidi, and I have been married for 34 years. We have raised our three boys, now 30, 27 and 20 years old, in lake country and we are proud grandparents of a 2 1/2 year old boy. When we joined Cross of life / UNITY about 25 years ago, we knew it would be a great fit for us with the perfect trifecta of JoAnn Thom children’s program, wonderful music from the Choir and sermons from Pastor John relating to the Green Bay Packers.

I retired the first of the year after 35 years in IT in which I have been leading PMO’s for various companies and consulting in Mergers and Acquisitions over the past 10 plus years. In my spare time I enjoy being active outdoors, spending time with my family and working on projects around the house. My favorite place to be is at our cabin up north on the lake with my family.

Davida Kroepfl

My husband, Jon, and our two children (Michael and Keira) joined UNITY in October, 2013. We were looking for an ELCA church with a strong children's program and found our faith family at UNITY. I enjoy teaching Sunday School and leading small groups with the Confirmation students. I started the role of Christian Education council member and have been exposed to so many additional opportunities at UNITY.

I obtained a Human Resources degree (BBA) from the University of Wisconsin- Oshkosh. I have been employed at Mercer since 2000, and currently lead their pension administration implementation team.

Tim Herman

Tim has served on the Finance Team since he joined UNITY in 2022. He is a proud Badger with a bachelors in Math and masters in Actuarial Science. Tim is a Principal and consulting actuary for Milliman where he provides retirement consulting services to both corporate and multi employer plan sponsors. He has lived in Brookfield for over 25 years and enjoys cooking, woodworking and spending time at his family cabin in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

Tiffany Reay

Tiffany and her husband Scott have been UNITY members since 2006 and have two high school boys, Trent and Clyde. Tiffany works as a metallurgical engineer at Unit Forgings in West Allis and likes to hike, read, and cook in her off hours.

Hello there! I am Anna Jansson and my husband, Kyle, and I joined UNITY right before Covid hit. We absolutely loved UNITY’s focus on the children and were so excited to join such a special community. Well, we all know how those few years went, but now we are so happy to be back at church celebrating with each other. I am a stay at home mom to Emma, Ben, and Owen and our dog, Sadie. My family and I have lived in Brookfield for 8 years and before that Minnesota and Colorado.

I enjoy all the things that come with managing a household of young kids: a very full summer, school events, sports, volunteering in the classroom etc.. I also enjoy volunteering outside of the classroom and am an avid reader, love being outside and up north, and spending quality time with family and friends.

I look forward to getting to know more of the UNITY Community through Church Council and to welcoming those who are new to our church!

Ellen Vermillion

My husband Ron and I joined UNITY almost 15 years ago. We were drawn to UNITY for several reasons. One was the welcoming community and another was the impressive list of servanthood partnerships that UNITY has within the community and beyond. Shortly after joining UNITY we started volunteering at one of those partners, The Food Pantry Serving Waukesha County. Later on we became UNITY’s advocates for The Food Pantry. After being a member of the servanthood committee for many years, I am excited to serve as the Servant Ministries Chair.

I retired six years ago after a rewarding teaching career in the Pewaukee Public Schools where I taught first grade for 23 years and four-year-old kindergarten for ten years. In my retirement I stay busy volunteering, golfing, traveling, and spending time with our four little grandsons.

Trisha Smith

I joined UNITY in 2011 with my family, Justin, Elizabeth (Lizzy) and Darian Kuehl, shortly after we moved to Brookfield. A few years ago, my mom also joined UNITY. Professionally, I am an attorney focused on utility and energy law. In my personal time, I enjoy supporting my kids, especially their soccer teams, watching sci-fi shows with Justin, volunteering with Girl Scouts, and being involved at UNITY. UNITY holds a special place in our lives because it shows that God’s love is for all people. I am blessed to have found my UNITY family, which has supported us and offered us wonderful Christian Education, Youth Group and Adult programs. I am honored to serve on Council as the Stewardship chair and welcome your feedback.

Nancy Oberhauser

My father was a Charter member of Cross of Life, so I’ve been coming here since the early 1980’s. When I was young, my parents attended two different churches, but I was drawn to attend UNITY (COL) because it felt like everyone was so welcoming. They actively wanted to be there, and had a common vision, to reflect God’s love to the world in so many ways.

I was Confirmed at COL, and remember helping with the early VBS years alongside friends. During my high school years, I was part of the inaugural Boundary Waters trip, and we also went on a group ski trip to Brule, staying at a church family’s cabin up north. Over those years, we had so many adult leaders that gave generously of their time, talent, wisdom, and resources, to help build an awesome community for me and my peers.

For many years, I had been away from Wisconsin, but I moved back in 2013. I’m now married to John, and have two sons, Jack & Sam. With teenage sons of my own, I want them to experience all of the adventures, wonder, and service opportunities that are available to our youth. Jack and I have been on 2 Appalachia Service Project trips, and one Boundary Waters trip with the High School youth. I hope to plant the seeds of love and faith, alongside other adult leaders, so that as our youth grow up and go out i nto the world, they remember that God walks with them, and loves them unconditionally.

Steve Johnson

Steve and his wife Linda joined CTK in 2012. Steve has been active at UNITY by ushering, reading, Worship Assistant and parking lot greeter. Steve was the chairman of the last Pastor Search Committee. He currently is the Orchestra Director, grades 1-12, at the University School of Milwaukee. He enjoys music, cooking, reading and traveling.

Steve and Linda have been married since 1989. Interim Pastor for CTK, Kris Totzke, was Linda’s Maid of Honor. Linda works for Old Republic Risk Management in Brookfield.
