Light by Tami Miller

In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.  ~Matthew 5:16

While driving, walking or enjoying the view,  it’s a simple conversation starter around our house:  Look at the sky and say names of colors that you see.  Simple descriptions:  Blue, gray, yellow, and orange fit the task sometimes.  At sunrise or sunset the ever changing hues invite creative contests rivaling names of fancy nail polish or monochromatic paint strips. Depending on the light, the colors evolve, emerge, glow, fade.
How might we show our colors in the life we live?  Bright, shining light; soft, muted hues - all enhance the world around us.  Ways in which we can reflect color and light might include volunteering on a committee or church council, leading an adult forum or participating in a Zoom meeting, reviewing Sunday School lessons with a child, texting a friend when you heard good news, driving supplies to a partner or a member to an appointment, bringing a banana bread to a neighbor who could use a smile, reading the lessons for recorded church, remembering someone’s name, handing out bulletins, praying for those on the prayer list, teaching a youngster the Lord’s Prayer, sending a sympathy or get well card, and a warm, caring smile. The options - like color - ever changing, always beautiful and reflecting God’s light in our lives.
Dear Lord, let our light shine!  When we serve others, we serve you and our light shines bright! Amen.
