Ned Consigny Book Drive

Book Drive

Literacy meant so much to UNITY member Ned Consigny.  In memory of Ned, we are once again collecting new books and/or money to buy books which will be distributed at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.  We invite you to drop off new (only new, please) children’s books at either campus (receptacles will be inside the front entrance) or make a donation to UNITY (marked “Ned Consigny Book Drive” on the check) by December 14.  Contact is Mary Chetney either by phone or email.

On behalf of Children’s Hospital and the Consigny family, thank you for your book donations!

Christmas Bags

Christmas Bags

Each year we share some simple gifts with member households who’ve experience grief, loss or unique hardship during the year.  This can be anywhere from 30 to 60 of our households.  If you’ve ever been on the receiving end of these gifts, you know how meaningful it is.  Much of the infrastructure is in place to continue this ministry but we need two people willing to lead it.  This would involve shopping (that will rule some of you out and others in!!) and then organizing routes so that those who deliver the gifts go to specific areas rather than all over the place.  This is a time commitment but not a huge one, probably 10 hours or less for each person.  If you are interested or want more information, talk to any pastor or to Lynn Key in the office.

This ministry involves assembling gift bags and delivering them on Saturday, December 20, beginning at 9:30am at our Cross of Life campus.  If you’d be willing to be one of the people who delivers these gifts (that usually takes about 10-12 people, but the more the better!), please contact Lynn Key in the UNITY office by Saturday, December 13.

Angel Trees

Cookies

“Angel Trees” are now up at each campus, and are an easy way to give this Christmas. Each tree is adorned with tags for small thank you gifts for: staff at our partner ministries; presents for kids at our partner churches; gifts for Bread of Healing Clinic and Hebron Housing Services; and residents at Aspen Center and Serenity Inns. Here’s how it works: 1) Pick a tag off the Angel Trees and follow the gift suggestions. 2) Return gift to the campus where you picked it by Sunday, December 21. Gifts should be delivered wrapped and labelled with gifted name only. 3) Volunteers will deliver them in time for Christmas! Can you help deliver gifts on Monday, December 22, or Tuesday, December 23? Contact Jackie Herington either by phone or email.

Mitten Tree At CTK, Mitten Bin At COL

Mitten Tree/Bin

The Mitten Tree at CTK and the Mitten Bin at COL are now welcoming donations. This is the perfect way to help the kids at our partner church Hephatha and their neighborhood kids stay warm this winter! Scarves and hats are always welcome, but nice, warm mittens and gloves are especially needed. CTK’s tree will be in the narthex and COL’s bin will be near the doors at the fireplace entrance. Items will be picked and sent out several times during the season. These are much-needed replacements for items that fall by the wayside. Questions? Contact Jane Boorse either by email or phone. Thanks for warming kids’ hands, heads and hearts this holiday ... and all winter long!
