Joy by Ryan McCumber

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. ~Romans 15:13

The holiday season is truly a time of joy. It starts with our joy and peace in believing in our Lord Jesus Christ, and how much he loves us. It grows into the time when we enjoy time off from work, spending time with people we love, and eating food we enjoy. Only understanding the true meaning of Christmas does a better job than any other distraction that gets in the way of really bringing us joy. And when the holiday season is not a joyful time, we turn our hearts to him so we feel the joy he has intended. When we pause long enough during our enjoyment of the holidays, we may then abound in hope and reflect on what this Christmas holiday season really means to us. What it represents…Joy and hope.

Dear Lord, Please help us see true joy this holiday season.  Let the joy you have intended us to see overflow in us and the people around us.  We pray all these things, in Jesus' name, Amen.
