“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” ~Isaiah 9:6

The angels announced Jesus’ birth with songs of “Peace on earth and goodwill to all.” Below are ecumenical prayers for peace.

· “Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.” - Christian

· “May all things be a source of peace to us. May Thy peace itself, O God, bestow peace on all.” - Hindu

· “May people think of befriending one another.” - Buddhist

· “If the enemy inclines towards peace, do thou also incline towards peace.” - Muslim

· “Give us the wisdom to teach our children to love, to respect, and to be kind to each other so that they may grow with peace of mind.” - Native American

· “Know that we attaineth God when we loveth, and only victory endures in consequences of which no one is defeated.” - Sikh

· “Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.” - Jewish

· “For this is a moment of deep concern that requires comfort, and a practice of peace and compassion to confront our sorrows.” Humanist

Prince of Peace, who blesses the peacemakers, help us claim and share your peace that the world cannot give, that surpasses all understanding.  Amen.
