United in Christ, Together in Ministry!

Love by Chris Keim

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. ~John 3:16

Jesus, Emmanuel, God’s incarnation into man, was born to Mary, an unwed teenager. He was born in a stable, amongst animals, which was a pretty lowly birth. Not too long after his birth, his family had to take him and flee to Egypt to save him from being killed by Herod. They were refugees.
God could have chosen to dwell with us as royalty, with money and power and position, but he didn’t. He came into this world in poverty and strife.  He walked among us, with us, in the difficulties of the world. As he moved into his ministry, his life did not get easier. He walked toward a tortured death that he knew was coming.-- He never excluded, never pushed anyone away. He commanded us to love our neighbor and called us to feed the hungry, and to welcome the stranger. All of these things are easier said than done, but he did these things. He lived them, here on earth, among us. God’s love for us is so, so great. As we wait in Advent, let’s dwell in God’s great love for us and look for ways of carrying his love to others.

Dear Lord, Your love for us is more than we can even fathom. Your love for us, if truly known and understood, would wipe away the power struggles of the world. Place in us a desire to discover the depths of your love for us, and then be conduits of that love in your world. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
