United in Christ, Together in Ministry!

Peace by Chris Keim

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. ~Isaiah 9:6

2020 has not been known for its peace. As a matter of fact, it has been known for its unrest. We have been experiencing unrest in our hearts and minds, unrest in our politics, unrest in our streets and our cities. And yet we have come to Advent in our church year and we are waiting. We are waiting for Jesus; The Prince of Peace. What does it mean as Christians, as the body of Christ, to wait for the Prince of Peace? We have a lot to ponder as we wait; it seems we have more to ponder than ever before in our lifetime. Pondering peace, the peace that Jesus brings to us seems like a good use of our time as we wait. In this time of waiting, let’s think about why, if we want peace, we spend so much time living out the opposite of peace. Let’s take some time to sit and contemplate what peace feels like; what it looks like in our thoughts, words and actions. May you find the peace of Christ as you wait now in Advent and always.

Dear God of all life, We pray for your peace, the peace that surpasses human understanding to be revealed in our lives and in our world. Open us to your peace and create a hunger in us for it. Amen
