Hope by Jeff Key

“Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.” ~Romans 12:12

Hope can be a tricky thing.  If we say we hope for something but really mean it has to happen, it can lead to disappointment and feelings of anger.  If we want something to happen so badly that the hoped for result determines our future happiness, then that is no longer hope, but a demand.  We, as children of God, should be hopeful and positive as we live our lives, with the understanding that not all the things we hope for will turn out the way we want, and that is okay.

God of hope, help us to lead lives of hopefulness and joy.  And as we live those principles, help us to be examples of what hope can do in our lives and the lives of others.  Move us to be examples to others of how to react when hoped for results don‘t turn out exactly as we wanted them to.  Amen.
