Our 2017-18 Church Council

Eric Gravenkamp has served on Church Council in the past as Youth Chair and was recently elected as Council President. It’s such a joy to be involved with UNITY where we can Celebrate, Share and Renew together as a Faith Community.

Being an active member of a church and in ministry has always been important to Eric.  His first real job was as a Youth Minister at Good Shepherd UMC in Oconomowoc.  He has served as a Chaplain and a Social Worker for several different Hospice agencies and is currently Support Services Manager for Serenity Hospice in Germantown.

Eric serves on several Boards,  Elena’s House (Housing for people with HIV/AIDS in Wauwatosa), Bread of Healing (free clinic which is a servanthood partner of Unity) and HOPE of WI, (Hospice Organization and Palliative Experts of WI).

He is married to Kelley who is a 1st grade school teacher in Waukesha.  They have two sons Jacob and Spencer.  Jacob is a junior at Carroll University studying exercise science and exercise physiology. Spencer is a sophomore at Centre College in KY studying economics.

Paul previously completed two tours of duty as Treasurer of Cross of Life and Tammy was on Council as well.

Paul and Tammy love to travel and are focusing on the national parks, having just recently visited the Tetons and Yellowstone Park.

Paul works for Mercer and specializes in administration of defined benefit pension plans.

Jana has been serving as a recording secretary on Church Council since 2015. Jana, along with Scott, her husband and Kya, her daughter (16) visited the Cross of Life Campus many times over the years when visiting family. When they moved to the area, they continued to visit and found comfort at Unity Lutheran Church where they became members.

Jana was involved with teaching Sunday School, Sunday School Coordinator, Advent Fest, Confirmation Class, and Worship Coordinator when Kya went through the wonderful education program. She can be seen “behind the scenes” lending a hand in worship and is thankful for the great opportunities our faith community offers.

When not working an “IT schedule” as a Business/Systems Analyst, Jana devotes much time to the Booster Club for the Kya's sports team. She enjoys spending time with family, meeting new people, visiting novel places, spending as much time as she can outside in the summer months and working on projects.

Our family joined Cross of Life in l997 and we have been fortunate to raise our 3 children in this wonderful church. I enjoy our Bible study, Book Club and volunteering at our partner sites for Servanthood Ministries.

My husband Dan and I were raised in the area and met at UW-Madison. After we were married, we moved 8 times in 16 years, coast to coast, and we were happy to return to our "Wisconsin roots” in l997. Our son Ross and his wife, Sahithi, live in Dallas with their newborn, Talia. Our daughter Sarah and her husband, Eric, live in Milwaukee while our youngest, Katie, lives in New York City.

In my spare time I like to garden, volunteer, read, travel and cheering on our Badgers and Packers!

Eric started attending Cross of Life in 2009. His family decided to try the Saturday night service and soon they were involved in Sunday school, confirmation, Fusion, ECRT and sampling Smarties from Jo Ann’s candy dish.

Eric grew up in New Berlin and graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran High School and the University of Wisconsin. With his Journalism degree in hand, Eric moved to Minneapolis, MN and demanded a corner office and salary to match from the best agencies in town. That didn’t happen, but he did get a very low-paying internship. After 10 years in the Twin Cities, the call of Milwaukee and family brought his crew to Pewaukee.

Eric and his wife, Cindy, have three children. Klaus, Hans and Elsa have grown-up at the COL campus. In his free time, Eric likes reading church bios, cheering on the Badgers, and attempts to stay active.
